Eric Dean McVay, 38, of Lehigh died April 18, 2006, in Monett, Mo., of a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 22, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Burial was at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg.

Eric McVay was born Aug. 29, 1967, in Iowa City to Michael Ray and Betty Jane (Allen) McVay. He received his education in the Winterset and Phoenix, Ariz., schools. Recently, he received a degree in professional truck driving from Iowa Central Community College. On Aug. 1, 1992, he was united in marriage to Julie Diest. They resided in Audubon. He later married Roberta Jolene Sallee on Aug. 29, 2002. Eric trained horses and worked on the rodeo circuit and for stock contractors. He was currently employed with Smith Way Motor Xpress Trucking in Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his father, Grandma and Grandpa McVay and Grandma and Grandpa Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta, of Lehigh; one daughter, Kaylyn McVay of Audubon; one son, Logan McVay of Audubon; his mother, Betty McVay of St. Charles; three stepdaughters, Brandy Sallee of Milan, Ill., Kristina Yetz of Orient and Toni Yetz of Lehigh; one stepson, Mark Yetz of DeWitt; three brothers, Patrick McVay of Lorimor, Forrest “Bud” McVay of Peru and Nathaniel McVay of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister, Delta Wilson of Bondurant; and four grandchildren.
