Mrs. Vera Mable Bowen Breakenridge, age 92 years 3 months, died March 18, 1987 at Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was married on 14 September 1918, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Raymond Dean Breakenridge, 64 years until his death in 1982.
She was born in Chariton, Iowa, December 18, 1894. She and her husband farmed near Winterset for 54 years, being active in church, farm and political activities until their retirement in 1972. At this time they moved to Natchitoches, Louisiana to be near their daughter, Mrs. Raymond Christensen.
From early childhood she was an active member of the Methodist Church. Transferring to the First Methodist Church, Natchitoches, she became a part of its many activities, including the Maggie Pearson Circle and the Elizabeth Winstead Church School class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her only child, Fern Eloise B. Christensen and her husband Raymond L. Christensen, Sr.; grandson, Dr. Raymond Lyle Chrsitensen, Jr., and his wife Paula Jo, of Haslett, Michigan; granddaughter, Christena Sue Allain and her husband, Michael of Metairie, Louisiana; two great-grandsons; and a sister, Edith Broaddus of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Services were held at the First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches, Saturday, March 21, at 1:00 p.m., with James Poole, pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches, Building Fund or other charitable memorials. Burial was at Natchitoches.
