John V. Wyatt, Sr., a resident of Madison county for 24 years, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1968, at his home in Winterset. He was 63 years of age.
Mr.Wyatt was a native of Polk county, where he was born Feb. 26, 1905, a son of C. W. and Rose Hupp Wyatt. His early life was spent at Runnells, and Rising Sun. He was married in Des Moines Feb. 26, 1925, to Edith B. Smalley. They engaged in farming at Rising Sun, then moved to Altoona, where they lived until moving to Winterset.
Mr. Wyatt was a farmer, and later a machinist by trade. He had worked at the Penn-Dixie quarry, and at Solar Aircraft in Des Moines.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
Mr. Wyatt is survived by his wife; five children, John Wyatt, Jr., of New Virginia, Jerry Wyatt of Ft. Sill, Okla., Mrs. Richard Shuey of California, Mrs. Eugene Meyer of Florida, and Mrs. Fred Bain of Illinois; and eight grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, William and Clarence Wyatt; and three sisters, Hazel, Pauline and Helen.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the First United Methodist church in Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Everett K. Burham.
