Guy Herbert Boyd, Knoxville

Guy Herbert Boyd, 81, died Nov. 24, 1999 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital Emergency Room.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville with the Rev. Bob Ward officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery with military honors provided by V.F.W. John Myers Post 3519 and American Legion Baty-Tucker Post 168.

Guy Boyd was born May 30, 1918 in Madison County to Guy Herman and Marie (Jamison) Boyd. He was raised in the Winterset area, graduating from Winterset High School with the class of 1938. He worked at the Glenwood State Hospital for a brief period before moving to Knoxville to work at the V. A. Hospital. In 1941, he was inducted into the United States Army, serving four years as a medic in the European Theatre. While in the service, he married June Lundy on March 20, 1943 in Denver, Colo. After the war, the couple made their home in Knoxville. Guy worked in the security office of the V.A. Medical Center until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Baty-Tucker Post 168 and the Odd Fellows Lodge 90.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

He is survived by his wife of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Knoxville Rescue Unit.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.
