HATTIE BOWLSBY RITES WEDNESDAY

Former Deputy Supt. of County's Rural Schools Died Here Monday

Mrs. Hattie Bowlsby of Winterset, a well known rural school teacher in this community for many years, died Monday, Jan. 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Byron Johnson. She was 84 years of age.

Mrs. Bowlsby taught rural school in this county for 21 years. She also served for 12 years, as deputy superintendent of schools under Mrs. Kathryn Kale.

She was born in Scott township on August 16, 1868, and spent her entire life as a resident of this county. She was active in the Woman's Relief Corps and the Winterset Methodist church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Johnson of Winterset and Mrs. Edith Fay of Ladora; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. W. A. Samp of Creston, assisted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, Winterset pastor. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
