Loren "Hank" Boughton, 83, of Van Meter died of complications of abdominal surgery Feb. 22, 2003, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held today at Booneville United Methodist Church in Booneville with Pastor Lane Riggle officiating. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles.
Loren was born May 30, 1919, in Truro to Chester and Etta (Miller) Boughton. On July 20, 1941, he married Garnetta Strable in Grant City, Mo. He worked all his life as a farmer in the Madison county area. Loren attended Booneville Methodist Church, but was not a member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sister, Naomi and Elda; and a brother, Elias.
He is survived by his wife, Garnetta of Van Meter; two sons, Jack and Ronald, both of Van Meter; two sisters, Leona Hurt of Murray and Mary Stalcup of Winterset; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
