Robert "Bob" Johnston, 80, of Norwalk died Dec. 18, 2004 at the Norwalk CLC Care Center of complications following a recent stroke.
Private burial services will be held at a later date at North McDonald Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Madison County.
Bob Johnston was born July 18, 1924, in Kansas City, Kan. He grew up in Mt. Ayr, graduating from Mt. Ayr High School in 1942. In 1951, he married Ruth Little of Winterset. Bob was retired from the Norwalk Community School District. He had lived in Winterset, Norwalk, and Milo before returning to Norwalk in 2001. He served in the United States Army during World War II and later with the United States Marines during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Norwalk; two daughters, Diane Turner of Reno, Nev., and Karen Catron of West Des Moines; two sons, Mike Johnston and Pat Johnston, both of Norwalk; a sister, Maxine Everling of Des Moines; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Norwalk Athletic Booster Club.
