Pearl Bonham Dies At 87 Years

Mrs. Pearl Bonham, a resident of the Macksburg community all her life, died Tuesday, February 6 at the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Rex M. Wilder of Creston where she had been spending the winter. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Bonham was a daughter of Adam and Elizabeth Busch and was born in Grand River Township near Macksburg on September 25, 1885. She taught rural schools in Grand River Township prior to her marriage on December 11, 1907 to Francis A. Bonham.

After farming for several years, they moved into Macksburg and operated a general store there over a long period of years.

She was a long-time member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Macksburg and after the dissolution of that congregation joined the Lorimor Baptist Church. For over 65 years she was a member of Hawthorn Rebekah Lodge No. 350 and was a past noble grand there. She was also a member of women's auxiliary, Patriarch Militant at Creston.

Her husband preceded her in death. Nearest surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. Rex M. Wilder; a niece, Mrs. Bert Roseberg; and a nephew, David Wilder.

Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Macksburg United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Ferguson, assisted by the Rev. Willis Grant. Burial was made, with Rebekah ritual at the grave, in Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.

Pearl Bonham dies at 87

LORIMOR—Mrs. Pearl Bonham, 87, died Tuesday evening at the home of her sister, Mrs. Rex Wilder, in Creston. She had been making her home with her sister and brother in-law recently.

Mrs. Bonham had lived in the Macksburg community most of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist church at Macksburg. Rev. Wayne Ferguson and Rev. Willis Grant will officiate. Burial will be in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg. Her body is at the Watts-Soll funeral home at Lorimor but will be taken to the church at Macksburg Friday morning to lie in state until the time of her services.

Pearl Busch was born in Grant township of Madison county on Sept. 25, 1885. She was the daughter of Adam and Elizabeth Moon Busch. She was married, at the home of her parents, in December, 1907, to Francis Bonham, who preceded her in death in 1969.

Mrs. Bonham is survived by her sister, Mrs. Wilder. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.

She had been affiliated with the Baptist church at Macksburg and Lorimor.
