RAY E. BOND OF WINTERSET DIES

Death Occurred Monday at Home Here; Was 76 Years Of Age.

Ray E. Bond, a prominent Madison county farmer and a resident of the county since 1893, died at his home in Winterset Monday, May 8. He was 76 years of age.

Mr. Bond was born in Knox county, Illinois, on Feb. 8. 1885, a son of Frank and Emma Headley Bond. He came to Madison county in 1893, and engaged in farming in the Pitzer community during his active years. He moved into Winterset in 1944.

He had been a member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian church since 1912.

Mr. Bond was a charter member of the Madison County Angus Cattlemen's association and of the Madison county Fair association, serving two terms as a member of the board. He was active in the Farm Bureau and served as a 4-H club leader in Jackson township for nine years.

He was married Feb. 14, 1911, to Lois A. Nelson, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Lloyd Bond of Winterset; two grandchildren; two brothers, Erwin Bond of Ankeny and Dale Bond of Ames; and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Nelson of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church in charge of the Rev. Albert Bullock and the Rev. John C. Porath. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
