IRWIN BODWELL DIED SATURDAY

Resident Here Past 41 Years Dies at Age of 63 Years

George Irwin Bodwell of Winterset died Saturday, March 31 at his home here. He was 63 years of age.

Mr. Bodwell has been a resident of Madison county for 41 years, and for 27 years had been employed at the Penn-Dixie rock quarry here. He was born at Keen, Texas on August 15, 1898, a son of Putman and Kathanna Strain Bodwell. He was a member of the Local No. 258 of the United Cement, Lime and Gypsum Workers union.

He was married May 17, 1915, to Verna Epperson, who survives him. He also leaves five sons and one daughter, Herman and Wallace Bodwell of Denver, Colorado, Melvin Bodwell of Des Moines, Robert and Shirley Duane Bodwell of Winterset and Mrs. Marilyn Driscol of Des Moines. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers, Grant Bodwell of Ardmore, Okla., and Leane Bodwell of Dallas, Tex.; and a sister, Mrs. May Maurer of Burlington.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. H. C. Short, pastor of the Grace Baptist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
