Gertrude C. Jackson
March 2, 1890 - September 7, 1978

Gertrude C. Jackson, the daughter of Hans and Rena Peterson, was born at Kellogg, Iowa, March 2, 1890. She passed away at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Thursday, September 7, 1978.

She and her family moved to rural Earlham in 1894, and Gertrude graduated from the Earlham high school. She was united in marriage on May 7, 1913 at the Peterson home to G. DeVere Jackson who preceded her in death in 1959.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Charlene Walters of Hillsdale, Michigan; four grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Peterson of Portland, Oregon, and Frank Peterson of Rippey, Iowa; and her sister, Mrs. Stella Burch of Winterset. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Opal Marie, her parents, and one brother Charles.

Her life will also be remembered by her membership at the Earlham Presbyterian Church where she served for many years as Sunday School teacher and superintendent. She was also a member of the Chautauqua Club, a past member of the Earlham school board, and also was active in 4-H work for many years.

Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
