LIZZIE BLAND OF WINTERSET DIES

Lizzie Bland, a resident of Winterset since 1947, died here Saturday, Oct. 24, at Memorial hospital. She was 73 years of age.

Lizzie Iona Bland was a daughter of William Gilmore and Rebecca J. Bland. She was born July 7, 1891, in Warren county near Prole. Her early life was spent in the Linn Grove community, where she joined the Linn Grove Methodist church in 1910. She moved with her family to Indianola in 1918, and there she joined the Friends church, of which she became an active member.

After the death of her parents, Miss Bland made her home for a short time with her youngest sister, later coming to the home of the late Effie Blosser of Patterson. They came to Winterset in 1947.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ada Berry of Indianola, Mrs. Vina Speer of Des Moines and Mrs. Lena McCaulley of Lorimor.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home at Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Lowell Rasmussen of Indianola. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
