J. Ross Moore
May 19, 1896 - June 14, 1981

J. Ross Moore, the son of Robert and Hattie Barr Moore, was born May 19, 1896 in Madison County, Iowa. He passed away at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Ross was raised in Madison County and graduated from the Earlham Academy in 1915.

On January 30, 1915 he was united in marriage to Edna Eisele in Earlham. They farmed in the Pitzer area for over 50 years. Edna passed away in 1967. For the past several years Ross has made his home in Earlham.

Ross was a member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his loving children, Marvin of Earlham, Mrs. Marilyn Hines of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Charlotte of Sunnyvale, California; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and one brother, Guy, of Earlham.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Donald.

Services were held on June 17, 1981, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pitzer Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jerry Evelsizer and Rev. Harold Butz officiating. Casket bearers were Richard Frey, Russell Frey, Harlow Finney, bob Kuhns, Russell Leeper and Howard Smith. Honorary casket bearers were Ralph Hunter, Ernest Marquardt, L. O. Patten and Earl Schalkle.

Interment was at the Earlham cemetery.
