Services for William Ora Black, 98, Norwalk, who died Nov. 7 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, were held on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Tom Webster and the Rev. Dvid Streyffeler officiating. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Born May 3, 1890 in Warren County, he was the son of Riley and Sarah Souders Black. He attended Warren County country schools and was married March 13, 1913 to Flossie Jane Young.
Mr. Black farmed in Warren and Madison counties and was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church. He retired at the Norwalk Manor since July 17 of this year.
Survivors include a son, Roland and wife, Betty M. of Indianola; daughters, Mary Ardis Goldsberry and husband Wayne of Runnells, and Betty Jane Armstrong and husband Kenneth of Storm Lake; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1969, two brothers and two sisters.
