CLARA BITTINGER DIES AT 86 YEARS

Mrs. Clara P. Bittinger of Winterset died Thursday, Feb. 20, at Memorial hospital here. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Bittinger was born at Geneva Nebr., on Aug. 18, 1882, a daughter of John and Caroline Richards Whitaker. She moved to this community from Nebraska in 1955.

She was married Jan. 11, 1903 at Belvidere, Nebr., to Clarence H. Bittinger. His death occurred in 1957.

She was a member of the First United Methodist church of Winterset.

Mrs. Bittinger leaves five daughters, Ione Schwietzer of Titusville, Pa., Esther Weber of Springfield, Mo., Tillie Addyman of Central City, Colo., Ruth Jungck of Omaha, Nebr., and Ruby Wilkinson of Alexandria, Nebr.; and six sons, Lynn Bittinger of Central City, Colo., Irvin Bittinger of Indianola, Clarence, Richard and Robert Bittinger of Winterset, and Donald Bittinger, U.S. navy of Vallejo, Calif. Two sons, Glenn and Chauncey, preceded the mother in death.

She also leaves 33 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Bess Nippert of Red Oak and Mrs. Belle Steele of York, Nebr.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First United Methodist church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. K. Burham, assisted by C. A. McMurray. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
