ETTA BISHOP OF WINTERSET DIES

Death Occurred Wednesday After Long Period of Failing Health

Mrs. Etta Bishop of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset, after an extended illness. She was 70 years of age.

Mrs. Bishop was the former Etta Rhodes, daughter of William C. and Mary Hutton Rhodes. She was born in this community March 6, 1891.

In 1910, she was married to Cain Bishop of Winterset. His death occurred in 1951.

She was a member of the Winterset Christian church. For many years she operated a home laundry here.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Hartman of Wapakoneta, O., four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Jesse Rhodes of Winterset, Paul Rhodes of Adel and William Rhodes of Omaha; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Strong of Winterset, Mrs. Pearl Cline of Des Moines, and Mrs. Bessie Linge of Texas and four grandchildren, Ted Hartman of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Peggy Schwaberow of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Mrs. Kathy Brandehoof of Lima, Ohio and Herbert Hartman of Toledo, Ohio.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Robert A. Owens, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
