BUTLER B. BIRD DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Butler B. Bird, a native of Madison county and member of a well known family here, died Tuesday April 28, at a hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. He was 58 years of age, and had been in failing health for some time. His death followed a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Bird was born near Patterson, Sept. 5, 1894. His early life was spent in this county, but he moved to Des Moines in 1900. Following the First World War, in which he served in the U.S. army, he settled in California. He was married there to Mabel Menzer, who survives him.

In Des Moines he had been a member of the University church. He was affiliated with the American Legion and the Masonic order.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his mother, Mrs. Grace Bird of Winterset, and a brother, Kenneth Bird of Los Angeles.

Funeral services were held in Los Angeles.
