Myrna Madene Comp, 91, of Fort Collins, Colo., died March 22, 2006.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 27, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins with the Revs. R. Scott Herr and Cindy Frost officiating. Burial was at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins.
Madene Comp was born Nov. 18, 1914, in rural Winterset to Ralph and Mabyl (McKenzie) McLees and was a 1932 graduate of Winterset High School. In September of 1932, she began her studies at Thompson’s Beauty School in Des Moines, graduating in May 1933. Following graduation, Madene worked at the Vogue Beauty Shop in Winterset. On Aug. 28, 1940, she married Raymond G. Comp in Viola, Kan. In 1954, the family moved to Gladbrook where she and her husband owned and operated Comp’s Chicken Hatchery. She was a member of the Methodist Church, where she was vice president of the Ways and Means Committee and a Sunday school teacher. She also was a Girl Scout leader. In 1956, the family moved to Fort Collins where Madene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Lydia Ruth Circle. She also volunteered at Poudre Valley Hospital. Additionally, she had worked in the Colorado State University (CSU) bookstore, Poudre Valley Hospital and in food service at CSU as an assistant food manager.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, John and William McLees.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald P. Comp of Fort Collins, Colo., and Charles M. Comp of Eden Prairie, Minn.; one daughter, Debra L. Caldwell of Thornton, Colo.; and two granddaughters.
Arrangements were handled by Allnutt Riverside Chapel, 1530 Riverside Ave., Fort Collins, CO 80524.
