Roland Conrad
March 16, 1899 - November 14, 1980

Roland Conrad, the son of John E. and Lelia E. Johnson Conrad, was born March 16, 1899 in Earlham, Iowa. He passed away at the Earlham Care Center on November 14, 1980.

Roland spent his entire life in Dallas and Madison counties. In 1917 he graduated from the Earlham Academy.

On April 8, 1921 in Wiota, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Helen Jenks. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of one son and two daughters. Roland and Helen spent their life together farming. In 1972 they moved to Earlham and in 1974 Roland retired.

Roland was an active member of the Earlham Friends Church. He enjoyed serving his church as an usher, trustee and in various other capacities.

Survivors include his loving wife Helen; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Conaway of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. Marilyn Gonseth of Earlham; one son, Eugene Conrad of Earlham; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and two infant great grandchildren.

Services were held at the Earlham Friends Church on November 18, 1980 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating the services were Rev. Eldon Cole and Rev. L. Willard Reynolds. Mrs. Irene Cole was organist. Casket bearers were Billy Algreen, J. L. Cushing, Bob Hester, Beryl Kenworthy, Irvin Loose and Bob Love.

Interment was at the Earlham Cemetery.
