Dwayne M. Applegate
January 18, 1915 - April 6, 1983

Dwayne Morse Applegate was born January 18, 1915 to David Morse and Cora Mae Applegate in rural Dallas County, Iowa. He attended a rural Dallas County elementary school and graduated from Redfield High School in 1933.

On February 11, 1939 Dwayne was united in marriage with Wilma Barnett at Salem, Iowa. They made their home in Dallas County until moving to their present home in Madison County south of Dexter in 1950. Six children were welcomed into their home.

Dwayne accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at a young age and has faithfully served his churches in various capacities.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of Dexter, three sons, Robert Bruce Haxton of Des Moines, Rodney Charles and Randy Dwayne of Bakersfield, California, three daughters, Lois Ileen Hamann of Maquoketa, Iowa, Karla Kay Hochstetler of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Darla Dee Howell of Sequin, Texas. One brother, Russell Applegate and a sister, Lucile Mapes, both of Earlham, Iowa, 12 grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by his family and community.

Burial in Penn Center Cemetery.

Funeral services were conducted April 10, 1983 at the Earlham Friends Church, Earlham, Iowa, with the Rev. Eldon Cole officiating. Irene Cole provided organ music. Pallbearers were Merlin Mapes, Marion Cook, Elton Mendenhall, Doyle Mapes, Marvin Cook and Rollin Barnett. Interment was in Penn Center Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.
