Russell "Jack" Bennett Jr., 80, of Winterset died of a heart ailment April 13, 2000 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Private memorial graveside services were held Tuesday April 18, at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Jack Bennett Jr. was born July 6, 1919, to Russell and Matilda Myrtle (Boudewyns) Bennett of Valley Junction. He married Ruby Christine Jensen on Aug. 30, 1941 in Princeton, Mo. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a resident of Winterset since 1958, having previously resided in DeSoto. Jack was a retired security guard from A.D.T. of West Des Moines. He was a member of the Van Meter American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Barbara Bindel of Overland Park, Kan., Beverly Martling of Grass Valley, Calif., Denise Creek of Decorah, Cheri Gerrish of Austin Texas, and JoAnn Voss and Jackie Grisham, both of Chandler, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
