Mable Benge, Winterset

Mable Benge, 88, of Winterset, died May 13, 1994 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were May 16, 1994 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Dickerson officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

She was born September 5, 1905 in Madison County to Ralph and Stella (Danforth) Allen. She married Harlan Benge in Madison County in Sept. of 1922. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Winterset and a member of the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter; and one brother.

Surviving relatives include four sons, Herbert Benge of Indianola, Harry Benge, William Benge, Delbert Benge, all of Winterset; seven daughters, Ethel Berry of Winterset, Eileen Long of Denver, Colo.; Shirley Lewis of Lewis, Gloria Stanley of Des Moines, Eleanor Rhoads of Winslow, Ariz., Vicki Murra of Webster City and Mary Thornburg of Winterset; one sister, Sunny Smith of Winterset; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
