Wednesday, February 1, 2006Nora Loure Thomas, 91, formerly of Winterset, died Jan. 25, 2006, at Harborside Crestwood Nursing Home in Milford, N.H.
Arrangements were handled by Nelson Funeral Home in Wilton, N.H., with burial of the cremains in Washington, Mo. Memorial contributions may be directed in her name to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
Nora Thomas was born Jan. 14, 1915, in Des Moines to Charles Edgar and Flo Janet (King) Tenley. On Sept. 30, 1940, she married Edward Raymond Thomas in Des Moines. She and her husband farmed for many years in Madison County before they purchased the Phillips 66 gas station and store on Highway 92. After selling their business, Nora became a home health aide in Winterset. Upon retirement, they moved to Arizona and subsequently relocated to Oklahoma City in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Ellen Young of Washington, Mo., and Janet McCurry of Wilton, N.H.; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
