Services for Ruth C. Ryan, 87, Winterset, who died Jan. 31, 1988, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at the St. Patrick's Irish Settlement.

Born in Algona on Dec. 19, 1900, she was the daughter of Robert and Maude Peebles Chipperfield. She was married on April 19, 1949 at St. Patrick's to James A. Ryan. A homemaker, she was the church organist at the Methodist church here for a number of years. She lived in Winterset for 25 years after coming from the St. Patrick's Irish Settlement.

Mrs. Ryan was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Current Topic and antique club, and a PEO member for 60 years.

Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Shambaugh of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and two sisters.
