Charles Roy Beeler, 79, of Winterset, died of complications of Alzheimer's Disease Aug. 13, 1997 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were August 16 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Ed Pfeffer officiating. Burial followed at the Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.

He was born in Peru on Jan. 4, 1918 to Charles and Dora (Ray) Beeler. On August 10, 1943, he married Mary Mae Breen in Winterset.

He was a farmer and a retired elevator manager for Reed Brothers BB&P Feed and Grain. He served in the armed forces during the second world war and was a lifetime resident of Madison County. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Winterset School Board, DeSoto School Board, Winterset Booster Club, Madison County Farm Bureau and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one daughter and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include five sons, Tom Beeler of Winterset, Doug Beeler of Asheville, N.C., Mike Beeler of Winterset, Troy Beeler of Shelby, Ohio, and Bob Beeler of Overland Park, Kan.; three daughters, Mary Wilson of Overland Park, Kan., Barb Prpich of Vernonia, Ore., and Julie McFarlin of Clinton, Ohio; one brother, Gene Beeler of Wiersdale, Fla.; one sister Mildred Crawley of Columbia, Mo., and 20 grandchildren.
