Shirley Jean Gillespie, 65, died from a brain tumor May 20, 1998, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Mary Pope officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Jean Gillespie was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Des Moines to Robert and Hope (McGuire) Souter. She was a graduate of North High Schol in Des Moines. She married Cecil Elmer Gillespie on June 27, 1959, in Des Moines. Jean was a resident of Winterset for approximately 39 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Winterset Lions Club, Madison County Historical Society and the Winterset First United Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Steve of Winterset and James (wife Michelle) of DeSoto; one daughter, Lori Ryner (husband Dan) of Winterset; and four grandchildren.
Collins Funeral Home in Winterset handled the arrangements.
