Jim Beardsley, 51, of Thayer, died of cardiac arrest on Aug. 27, 1996 at his home. Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at the Keating-Lindsay-Powers Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Peiler Cemetery in Patterson.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1945 in Creston to Roland Elbridge and Falma Frances (Umbaugh) Beardsley. He graduated from Lorimor High School in 1963, and on Aug. 15, 1971 he married Cyndi Rae Clemetson Berch in Peru. He worked for 27 years at Fansteel/Wellman Dynamics as a coremaker and supervisor, for six years in maintenance at Southern Iowa Residential facility, and for two years at the Creston News Advertiser. He retired in 1990 and was a lifetime resident of Union County. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served for two years in the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his father, one grandson, two fathers-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Surviving relatives include his wife; three daughters, Tori O'Neall and husband Scott of Creston, Tammi Beardsley of Thayer, and Tina Beardsley of Creston; his mother; five brothers, Don Beardsley and wife Frances of Guthrie Center, Bob Beardsley and wife Ruby of Warsaw, Mo., Ronald (Red) Beardsley and wife Sue of Creston, George Beardsley of Filer, Idaho, and John Beardsley and wife Terrie of Murray; six sisters, Wanita Ward of Murray, Lila McGuire and husband Arnim of Thayer, Barbara Fry and husband Gale of Creston, Catherine Latimer of Creston, Joan Browns and husband Jack of Marshalltwon, and Ellen Browns and husband Jay of Murray; and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
