WINTERSET NATIVE DIES IN WYOMING

Word has been received here of the death, on Wednesday Nov. 25, of Mrs. Grace Gilpin Bean, aged 93, a native of Winterset.

Mrs. Bean was a daughter of T. C. Gilpin, a pioneer Winterset attorney. She was born here Nov. 13, 1866. She studied music here and later at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Returning to Winterset she gave piano lessons here for several years.

She was married at Winterset and they were the parents of one daughter, Mary.

The family moved to Shoshoni, Wyo. in 1907. There she taught music in the public school, in addition to giving private lessons. She directed many high school operettas in Shoshoni and Hudson, Wyo.

Mrs. Bean's husband died in 1931, after which she moved to Casper, where she taught piano, voice and musical appreciation, and directed a church choir. She continued to teach until last year, when she ended more than 50 years of music teaching in Wyoming. Her death occurred at the Pioneer home in Thermopolis, Wyo.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary, of Basin, Wyo., and several grandchildren. Funeral and burial services were held Nov. 30 at Casper.
