In Memoriam

In the death of Martha Ellen Ellis, daughter of S. A. Ellis, May 15, 1888, society lost a very choice spirit. Her amible (amiable) disposition was greatly admired by old and young. Even in her lingering sickness, consumption, she was pleasingly mild, attractive and kind alike to all who visited her. As she was passing into the long night of death, calmly did she bid all a long and final farewell; but not without hope for;

No death shall be in heaven, no darkened room,
No bed of death, or silence of the tomb;
But breezes ever fresh with love and truth.
Shall brace the form with immortal youth.

Her dying request was that her sincere thanks should be only tendered to all her bereaved relatives and friends for their kind attention to her in her protracted sickness.

The above is written for the press by the request of the bereaved kindred of the deceased.

Martha Ellen Ellis, who the mortal remains were conveyed to the city of the dead, May 17th, 1888, in her 18th year, was one of Earth’s brightest gems. To love her was but to know her. Amiable and kind to all alike, both in health and her lingering sickness (consumption), she will be greatly missed.

Her dying request was that her sincere thanks should be tendered to all her relatives and many friends who so kindly waited upon and watched over her till she departed to join her mother and little brother in the Spirit Land.
