VIOLA YOUNKER, Waukee

Viola Mae Younker, 72, of Waukee died Jan. 13, 2005, at the Taylor House in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 17, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Burial was at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg.

Viola Younker was born April 22, 1932, to Arthur and Opal (Cooper) Hartman of Commerce. At the age of 2, her family moved to Valley Junction, then in 1943 to Winterset. She was a 1951 graduate of Winterset High School. On Oct. 7, 1954, in Centerville, she married Lesley Harold Younker. For 17 years, Vi was employed by Emco Industries. She also was a child care provider for 10 years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Hartman; one daughter, Deborah Ann Younker; and her stepfather, Otis Huddleson.

She is survived by her husband, Les, of Waukee; one daughter, Cindy Younker of Waukee; one son, Clint Younker of Waukee; her mother, Opal Huddleson of Winterset; two brothers, Dale Hartman and Steve Hartman, both of Winterset; a sister, Marylou Johnson of Rock Springs, Wyo.; and one grandson.
