Georgia E. Beaman, Greenfield

Services for Georgia E. Beaman, 92, a former Madison county resident, who died March 27, at the Greenfield Manor where she resided, were held March 31, at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. William E. Olmsted, officiating. Burial was at the Greenfield Cemetery.

Born Oct. 31, 1893 in Madison County, she was the youngest daughter of David and Sarah Cunningham Howard. She attended the rural county schools in Madison County and taught one year at Webster. She also worked as a telephone switchboard operator at Pitzer.

She was married to Charles W. Beaman on Feb. 14, 1916 in Des Moines and they were parents of six children.

She and her husband farmed for 20 years prior to purchasing the Canby Store north of Fontanelle in 1941. In 1958 they moved to Greenfield to reside during retirement.

Survivors include children, Pauline Gross and husband Roland of Greenfield, Howard Beaman and wife Ruth of Council Bluffs, Marjorie Porter and husband Dick of Greenfield, Robert Beamen of Greenfield and Elaine Rochholz and husband Glen of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, parents, a brother, three sisters and a son-in-law.
