Services Held For George Bass

George V. Bass, 84, of Winterset died Thursday, November 30, at his home.

A lifetime resident of Madison county until moving to Indianola in January 1974, he was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion Post No. 184 at Winterset.

He raised registered Belgian and American Saddle Horses and exhibited at many fairs. In 1962, he was named to the Iowa State Horseman's Hall of Fame. He was connected with the Iowa State Fair Horse Department for more than thirty years.

He was active in organizing the Madison County Agriculture Fair and in soil conservation work in this county. He also was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

Surviving are his wife, Aura, and brother, Gene of Winterset.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 2 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Rosary service was held Friday at the Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Interment was at the Winterset Cemetery.
