April 22, 1953OSCAR O. YOUNG Died Here Sunday
Oscar O. Young, a well-known Webster township farmer for many years, died at the Memorial hospital in Winterset Sunday, April 19, 1953. He was 88 years of age.
Mr. Young was found unconscious in the bedroom of his farm home, where he lived alone, early Sunday morning, by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Will Young and his nephew, Howard Young. Indications are that he had accidentally fallen in the night, receiving a severe head injury. He was taken to the Memorial hospital in Winterset, where his death occurred late Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Young was a native of Warren county, where he was born Oct. 13, 1864, a son of William and Lucinda Snyder Young. He came to Madison county with his family in 1881, and lived the remainder of his life here.
He was married here to Anna Newerf, who preceded him in death. They were parents of two daughters and two sons. One son, Olin Young, died in 1935.
As a young man he had united with the Methodist church at Norwalk.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy Crow of Afton and Mrs. Warren Drake of Macksburg; a son, Will B. Young of Webser township; and a sister, Mrs. John Gamble of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Wight cemetery in Webster township.
