OBITUARY OF BERNICE E. BARNETT

Bernice E. Barnett, daughter of Lavinia and Harrald Vane Mapes, was born near Winterset, Iowa on October 12, 1906 and passed away May 11, 1984 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Bernice graduated from the Earlham High School in 1924 and was a graduate nurse of the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Bernice and Clyde A. Barnett were united in marriage June 13, 1931 and spent their married life in the Bear Creek Community. She was a member of the Bear Creek Friends Church.

She was preceded in death by their son, Gerald, her parents and one sister, Mary Gutshall. Her survivors are her loving husband, Clyde; two brothers, Walter and Francis of Earlham; two grandsons, one granddaughter and four great grandchildren.

Services were conducted Monday, May 14, 1984 at the Bear Creek Friends Church with Pastor Wayne Anson officiating. Music was provided by Velma Barnett, organist. Pallbearers were Donald Gutshall, Gene Gutshall, Darwin Barnett, Merlin Mapes, Doyle Mapes, Robert Barnett.

Interment was at Bear Creek Cemetery, rural Earlham.

Professional arrangements by McKee Funeral Homes, Earlham, and Dexter.
