Kenneth Barnes, Reinbeck

Kenneth LaVerne Barnes, 78 of Reinbeck died March 7, 2003, at his home in Reinbeck.

Private family services were held, with the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth was born Oct. 23, 1924, to Isam and Daisy (Musselman) Barnes in Dassel, Minn. He married Virginia D. Hughes on Aug. 29, 1953, in Eau Claire, Wis. After serving his country in World War II, he worked at John Deere in Waterloo for 37 years. He was a member of the Am Vet Chorus, Melodeere Chorus and the First Baptist Church in Reinbeck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Terri Gay; an infant brother, Harold; and two other brothers, Carroll and Glenn.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Kathryn Radl of Guttenberg, Kristine Butterfield of Tama, and Konnie Neal of Grundy Center; a son, Kenneth of Independence a sister, Esther Neidt of Truro; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Reinbeck.
