Howard Barnes, Dexter

Howard E. Barnes, 83, of Dexter died Feb. 14, 2005, at his home.

A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 28 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter with Pastor Dallas Gilreath officiating. A private inurnment of the cremains took place at Fairview Cemetery in rural Stuart.

Howard Barnes was born Oct. 27, 1921 in Linn Township, Dallas County, to Elgy Bernard and Fern Lorraine (Rhodes) Barnes. On Sept. 13, 1946, he married Hazel Devilbiss of Dexter. He lived and farmed for most of his life on farms north of Dexter. Howard also worked at the Perry Pork Plant from 1962 until 1972. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.

He was preceded in death by one son, Rodney and one daughter, Mary Lee Simmons.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel of Dexter; three daughters, Sarabelle Voss and Rosie Morrison, Both of Stuart and Marge Gomez of Earlham; a sister, Creta Wigton of Earlham and 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
