Glenn Barnes, Waterloo

Glenn Isam Barnes, 75, of Waterloo, died after a lengthy illness Oct. 29, 1996 at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.. Funeral services were Nov. 2 at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Washburn, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Officiating the services was Pastor Clemons Bartollas.

He was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Madison County near Truro to Isam King and Daisy (Muselman) Barnes. He married Donna Blessing on July 24, 1970 in Galena, Ill. He was employed at Deere and Co. in Waterloo for 39 years, retiring in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; two brothers; and one brother-in-law.

Surviving relatives include his wife; two sons, David Barnes and wife Sandy and Jeff Stamatiades, all of Waterloo; three daughters, Marva Johnson and husband Allen of Ankeny, Penny Chase and husband Tom of Altoona, and Pam Kidd and husband Bob of Waterloo; one brother, Kenneth and wife Virginia of Reinbeck; one sister, Esther E. Neidt of Truro; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

GLENN ISAM BARNES

Glenn Isam Barnes, the son of Isam King and Daisy Muselman Barnes, was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Madison County near Truro and died Oct. 29, 1996, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo after a lengthy illness. He was 75.

He married Donna Blessing on July 24, 1970, in Galena, Ill. Mr. Barnes was employed at Deere and Company in Waterloo for 39 years. He retired in 1985.

Mr. Barnes was a talented cabinet maker and he will be remembered for his special wit and humor.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Barnes Stern; two brothers, Harold, who died in infancy and Carroll; a brother-in-law, Joe Neidt; and his parents.

Surviving Mr. Barnes are his wife; two sons, David Barnes and his wife, Sandy Barnes, and Jeff Stamatiades all of Waterloo; three daughters, Marva Johnson and her husband, Allen Johnson, of Ankeny, Penny Chase and her husband, Tom Chase, of Altoona and Pam Kidd and her husband, Bob Kidd, of Waterloo; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, a brother Kenneth Barnes and his wife, Virginia Barnes, of Reinbeck; a sister, Esther E. Neidt of Truro; many nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Barnes were at 1 p.m. Nov. 2 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Washburn, Pastor Clemons Bartollas officiating. The organist was his niece, Karen Hansen. Special music was Wind Beneath My Wings, How Great Thou Art, Just a Closer Walk With Thee, Precious Memories and Going Home. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Washburn.
