79-Year-Old Resident Had Been Critically Ill Since Aug. 6
Francis Marion Banks, a life-long and well known resident of this community, died last Thursday at the home of his son, Lee Banks. He became critically ill Aug. 6, and was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, where he remained until Aug. 19. He was 79 years of age.
Mr. Banks was the son of Josiah and Elizabeth Crawford Banks. He was born in Scott township July 17, 1866. He was married Sept. 1, 1894, to Mrs. Linna Burd, who survivies him. They were the parents of four children, two of whom died in infancy.
In addition to his wife, he leaves the two sons, Lee and Lloyd Banks of Winterset; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bessie Leasman of Winterset; two grandsons; one great granddaughter; four sisters, Mrs. C. C. Campbell, Mrs. C. A. Robbins, Mrs. Frank McKee and Mrs. J. W. McKee, all of Winterset; and two brothers, J. W. Banks of Albion, Ia. and Elmer Banks of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of hte Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery northeast of Winterset.
