MRS. ALTA BALLARD DIES AT 89 YEARS

Mrs. Alta E. Ballard, a former resident of Winterset, died at Des Moines last Wednesday, Aug. 11. She was 89 years of age.

Mrs. Ballard was born in Story county but lived at Winterset 28 years before moving to Des Moines.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Brubaker of Des Moines and Mrs. Everett E. Taylor of Muscatine; a son, Lyle Ballard of Santa Ana, Calif.; two brothers, George Sowers of Story City and John Sowers of Oroville, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Sowers of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday from Dunn's Funeral home in Des Moines, with burial in the Winterset cemetery.
