Funeral services for Forrest Milton Young, 81, were held July 4 at the St. Charles Parish Church, St. Charles, the Rev. Ed Poston and Pastor Jim Patrick officiating. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery.
Mr. Young died of complications from a stroke, July 2, 1992, at Skilled Care Center of Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.
Born January 2, 1911 to James Elder Young and Myrtle (Craig) Young, Forrest Milton Young lived in the St. Charles area and attended country schools. On September 10, 1932 he married Phyllis Patrick, a union from which there were four children, all of whom survive him.
Mr. Young was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church and the St. Charles Lions Club. A farmer, he also worked for Solar Aircraft for 18 years and 13 years for Northern Propane Gas before he retired.
Survivors include a sister, Emogene Brown of Oakville; his wife; three daughters, Patricia and Donald E. Brandt of West Des Moines, Christine and Dennis G. Day of Grinnell, and Sheryl and David Mattern of Des Moines; one son, David Eugene Young of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Woerner.
Kale Funeral Home of Truro was in charge of arrangements.
