FRED YOUNG Of Winterset Dies

Fred C. Young of Winterset, a resident of this county for 20 years, died Sunday, April 23, 1961, at Memorial hospital here. He was 58 years of age.

Mr. Young was a native of Grand River, where he was born April 10, 1903, a son of William C. and Margaret Redd Young.

His life was spent in farming. He was active in the affairs of his community. He was one of the original organizers of the National Farmers organization, in which he remained active as long as his health would permit. He was also an assistant superintendent of the Horse department at the Iowa State Fair.

Mr. Young was married Nov. 28, 1923, at Van Wert, to Grace Webb, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Lewis D. Young of Winterset; and two grandchildren, Kenneth Lee, aged 4 years and Thomas Dale, aged 17 months; in addition two brothers, R. H. Young of Brewster, Wash., and Ralph Young of LaPlatte, Mo.; and four sisters, Mrs. Addie Kelbach of Sedro Wooley, Wash., Mrs. Frances Proctor of Madero, Calif., Mrs. Naomi Phillips of Des Moines, and Mrs. Mary Jennings of Ellston.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was to be made in the cemetery at Grand River.
