Services Held For Thelma Bales

Funeral services were held Saturday Jan 3, for Thelma Bales, who died at the age of 65 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Mrs. Bales became ill last August and entered the hospital at the end of November. She died on Jan. 1.

Born at Pinedale, Wyoming, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Church. She was married to Kenneth Bales and lived near Winterset for 27 years.

Mrs. Bales was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ed Clayton of Indianola; two daughters, Mrs. Sally Arndt of New Virginia and Mrs. Mary Curnes of rural Waukee; and one grandson, Nicholas Curnes.

Services were conducted at Peterson's Funeral Home in Indianola with Rev. John Long officiating. Burial was at Indianola Cemetery.
