BERT E. YOUNG, Bakersfield

Services were held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel in Bakersfield, Calif., on Wednesday, April 27, for Bert Edward Young, 72, who passed away April 24 in Bakersfield. Minister Garth Black officiated.

Mr. Young was a native of Winterset and had resided in Bakersfield since 1985. He was born in Winterset to Elmer and Edith Young, being an only son. He graduated from the Winterset schools with the class of 1933.

He had been a motel owner in Iowa. He was a member of the Westside Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge #184, Beehive Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Nellie L. Young; daughters, Terry L. Beckstead of Nebraska and Toni R. Young of Bakersfield; son, Michael E. Young of Denver; 11 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Bert's father, Elmer, will be remembered as a mechanic for many years at the Palace Garage in Winterset.
