Marcy C. Baker, Winterset

Marcy C. Baker, 89, of Winterset died of cancer Nov. 26, 2000 at the Kavanagh House in West Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Pastor Mike Carlson and Pastor John Shaull officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 at Ochiltree's where the family will receive friends during that time. Burial will be at North McDonald Cemetery in Jefferson Township, Winterset.

Marcy Baker was born to Rufus and Mabel (Smith) Baker of Winterset. He married Mae Allen on Nov. 21, 1940, in Jefferson. A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he was a teacher and coach and also served as superintendent of schools for Macksburg and Norwalk, retiring in 1975. Marcy attended the First Baptist Church in Winterset and was a member of IOOF Lodge in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Carl Baker (wife Diane) of Marshalltown; three daughters, Sandy Crowley (husband Don) of Marshalltown, Debbie Baker of Winterset and Kara Knisley (husband Rance) of Allen, Texas; a brother, Dwight Baker of Des Moines; a sister, Eva Carter of Des Moines; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Baker's name will be accepted.
