Funeral services were held last Saturday for Mrs. Mary L. Baird, who died at the Madison Manor in Winterset on Friday April 19. She was 90 years of age at death.
Mary Lavina Baird was born at Truro on March 11, 1884, the daughter of Lincoln and Ann Davis Clopton. She was a graduate of Winterset High School.
She was married to Walter Baird at Greenfield in 1904. She lived in Des Moines prior to moving to a farm south of High Point, Iowa, where they farmed for 15 years. Following her husband's death in 1949, Mrs. Baird spent five years in Butte, Montana before returning to Des Moines. She had been a resident of the Madison Manor in Winterset for the past two years.
She was a member of the Greenfield Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include eight nieces; one nephew; one half-brother, Gaymond Clopton of Earlham; and one half-sister, Doris Flynn of Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers, Ben, Fred, and Bob Clopton; and one sister Nellie Carr.
Funeral services were held at the Slade and Soil Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20 with Rev. Wilton M. Grant officiating. Burial was in the High Point Cemetery.
