Roy Victor Benson, 72, of Winterset died August 3, 2001 of a heart ailment at Winterset Care Center North. No services are planned. Arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel and Funeral Services in Winterset.

He was born July 26, 1929 in Macksburg to James Cyrus and Frances L. (Hiskey) Benson. He married Joanne J. Wilkinson on May 20, 1950 in Winterset. He lived on a farm in Madison County for 20 years and then in Winterset for 52 years. He was a retired road construction worker for the Madison County Road Department and also worked in Alaska for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Surviving relatives include his wife; two daughters Beverly Ann Kolle of Chicago, Illinois and Irmalee Klemm of Safety Harbor, Florida and two grandchildren.
