Edward Wayne Paullin, 78, of Winterset died of a heart attack Jan. 19, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Scott O’Conner officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 22) with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Military graveside services will be performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.
Wayne Paullin was born June 14, 1924, in Madison County to Gyle Cleo and Ruth Loretta (Johnson) Paullin. He married Evelyn June Hulin on Sept. 30, 1946, in Troy, Kan. A lifetime resident of the Winterset area, Wayne had been a truck driver for the Iowa State Liquor Commission, retiring following 20 years of service. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and an infant daughter, Wendy Wayne Paullin.
He is survived by a son, Robert Paullin of Winterset; a daughter, Judie Hayden of Redfield; two brothers, Gerald Paullin of Winterset and Rex Paullin of Floral City, Fla.; a sister, Frances Wyatt of Osceola; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
