Dr. O. F. Archer Died At Santa Barbara, Calif

A native of St. Charles, Rev. Dr. O. Franklin Archer, 75, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 1978 at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, Calif. He was 75.

Born December 26, 1902, Rev. Archer attended grade school at St. Charles. After graduating from Simpson College at Indianola, he attended the Iliff School of Theology in Denver and served churches there from 1931 to 1958.

Rev. Archer served the First United Methodist Church of Santa Barbara as associate pastor until 1966 when he became pastor of the Bardsdale Methodist Church at Fillmore Calif. He returned to Santa Barbara in retirement in 1968.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Burger. They were married July 29, 1934, in Central City, Colo. Also three sons, Dr. Lewis Archer, PhD, of Spokane, Wa., G. Lowell Archer of Santa Barbara, Lloyd D. Archer of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Smith of St. Charles, Mrs. Marguerite Frey of Orange, Calif., Mrs. Gwendolyn Boren of Torrance, Calif and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted Wednesdy, Jan. 25 from the Santa Barbara First United Methodist Church also family services from the chapel of Haider Mortuary at Santa Barbara.
