Russell H. Applegate, Earlham

Russell H. Applegate, 89, died Feb. 20, 1999, at the Earlham Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday Feb. 24) at Bear Creek Friends Church near Earlham with Pastors Sharm Eaton and Donald Applegate officiating. Burial was at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Russell H. Applegate was born Sept. 20, 1909, in Madison County to David Morse and Cora Mae (Hadley) Applegate. At the age of six months, he moved with his parents to a farm in Dallas County, where he lived and worked as a farmer until his retirement. He was a graduate of Redfield High School. He married Maudie Barnett on Dec. 26, 1940, in Lynnville. Russell was a veteran of World War II and served on the Quakerdale Board in New Providence and the Dexfield School Board. He was a lifetime member of the Bear Creek Friends Church.

He is survived by his wife of Earlham; one son, Donald (wife Deloris) of Earlham; one daughter, Jean Gilbert (husband Walt) of Earlham; and three grandchildren.
