Elnora S.Applegate, Winterset

Elnora S. Applegate, 87, of Winterset Care Center South died Dec. 6, 2001, at Metropolitan Medical Center in Des Moines of complications following gall bladder surgery.

Funeral services were held Monday Dec. 10, at the United Methodist Church in Woodward. Burial was at Center Grove Cemetery of rural Cambridge.

Elnora Applegate was born March 2, 1914, in Lincoln Township, Polk County, to Amos and Carrie (Tesdahl) Nervig. She married Clark Applegate on May 20, 1933. a homemaker, she had resided at Woodward from 1958 to 1999. She had lived in Winterset for the past two years. Elnora was a member of the Woodward United Methodist Church, Esther Circle and the Ladies' Social Club in Woodward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son and a daughter.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Topp of Omaha, Neb.; a son, David Applegate of Winterset; a sister, Agnes Rullestad of Huxley; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Woodward United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Fisher Funeral Home in Adel.
